Everyone loves the unconditional companionship and doggy kisses to wake you up in the morning, but let's be clear, having the responsibility of a living animal life in your hands is not something to take lightly. All dogs will require attention, love and care, and solid training regime to grow into a healthy and happy dog.

Similar to humans, a dogs' physical and mental states of wellbeing are closest tied to their level of physical exercise and time outdoors. Fifteen minutes playing tug-of-war when you arrive home from work is simply not enough. The simplest way to keep your dog in good physical shape is a daily walk.
Here's just a few reasons to leash up and head out for a walk...
1.) Healthy Weight, Flexible Joints, Good body structure It’s hard to find a dog that doesn’t love to eat, but all that chowing down without exercise may cause your pup to start holding on to a few extra pounds. Walking will help ensure that your dog's caloric intake is close to the output. Alternatively, if you are having issues getting your dog to eat enough, a good walk will help build an appetite and hunger.
2.) Gain Trust, Companionship, and allow time for training Walking your dog daily will develop a strong connection between your dog and you. It will teach your dog to recognize your slight body gestures and vocal commands. Begin to recognize your dog's reaction when you pick up the leash.
4.Social Time Not only is a walk a great time for you to socialize with your dog. Along the trip you may meet other dogs and humans, these interactions are vital in the development of a healthy dog. Knowing how to act and treat other dogs is just as important as knowing how to sit or stand. Start them early and keep at it.
